This study presents an enhancement to the roller compaction model originally proposed by [1], incorporating the impact of roll speed on powder compaction during the dry granulation process. The updated model improves prediction accuracy, particularly at higher roll speeds, which are often neglected in existing models. Validation against literature data demonstrates the superior performance of the modified model compared to the original. Furthermore, the model is applied to a pharmaceutical formulation, illustrating its relevance in an industrial setting. Integrating the model into gPROMS enables global sensitivity analysis and design space exploration, offering valuable insights for process optimization and scale-up. This study advances the understanding of roller compaction dynamics and provides a practical tool for decision-making in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
