The use of mannitol as an excipient in solid drug formulation offers several advantages, including its low hygroscopicity, inertness with respect to active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and ability to produce robust tablets. Mannitol is particularly suitable for orally disintegrating tablets and formulations with moisture-sensitive APIs. It is available in different polymorphic forms and grades, with spray-dried mannitols showing beneficial properties for solid dose formulation. Parteck® M mannitol excipient, in its most stable polymorphic form, is well-suited for various tableting methods, including direct compression, dry granulation, roller compaction, and wet granulation. Its versatility makes it suitable for both high and low-dose formulations, micronized APIs, and immediate-release formulations, offering benefits such as high compressibility, uniform doses, and rapid disintegration and dissolution. Overall, Parteck® M mannitol excipient finds broad applications in solid dose formulations due to its specific particle properties and compatibility with different APIs.
