Objective This paper explores the development and evaluation of a laser sensor designed to identify the onset of sticking during tablet manufacturing. Methodology The device operates on the fundamental principle of directing a laser source towards the punch tip, with a photosensor gauging the intensity of the reflected beam. Results Initial findings indicate that the laser sensor effectively detects the buildup of material on a flat punch tip, showcasing its potential as a real-time monitoring tool in tablet manufacturing processes. Conclusions The study establishes that the laser sensor exhibits high sensitivity in characterizing the initiation of sticking, offering an advantage over other techniques that necessitate interrupting the compaction process.
