Managing the impact of compaction speed on the ultimate properties of tablets poses a significant challenge in scaling up solid dosage forms. The transformation of powder compaction properties concerning compaction speed is commonly termed as strain rate sensitivity (SRS). This study centers on the time-dependent elastic deformation known as viscoelasticity. A novel experimental approach was devised to assess the viscoelastic behavior of tablets within the die using a compaction simulator. This method allows for the differentiation of viscoelasticity from other types of time-dependent deformations, such as viscoplasticity and plastic deformation.
