Multi-layer tablets (MLT) are formulated for the production of fixed-dose combination products, aiming to streamline the medication regimen and potentially enhance patient compliance.
MLTs are complex systems where two layers of compressed powders are distinctly separated by an discrete interface. The hardness and susceptibility to delamination of MLTs are influenced not only by the composition of each layer but also by the deformation characteristics exhibited by each layer during the tableting process.
