The 5th European Conference on Pharmaceutics is set to take place in Porto, Portugal, on March 24th-25th, 2025, bringing together experts, researchers, and industry professionals to explore the latest advancements in drug formulation and pharmaceutical technology. As a sponsor of the event, KORSCH & MEDELPHARM will actively contribute to the discussions by presenting cutting-edge research, live demonstrations, and an exciting opportunity for academic institutions through the STYL’One University Contest.
Discover KORSCH & MEDELPHARM at Booth #5
Visitors to the conference will find KORSCH & MEDELPHARM at booth #5, where Quentin Boulay & Adrien Pelloux from MEDELPHARM, Friederike Gütter from KORSCH AG, and Martin Jusek from Agrosistema will be on hand to engage with attendees. The team will be showcasing the STYL’One Nano Compaction Simulator, offering insights into its applications for formulation development, process optimization, material characterization and early tablet development. The live demonstrations will provide a unique opportunity to see this highly flexible research tablet press in action, illustrating how it enables efficient screening of formulations with minimal material use.
Scientific contributions: Advancing tablet manufacturing research
Dr. Friederike Gütter, from the KORSCH Innovation Center, will present her work on “Refining Rotary Press Parameters for Consistent Tablet Quality during Product Transfer”. This study focuses on optimizing compaction and die-filling processes for high-speed tablet manufacturing, ensuring efficiency and uniform quality during production.
Meanwhile, Adrien Pelloux, from the MEDELPHARM Science Lab, will introduce his research on “Evolution of Critical Tablet Attributes with Temperature". His study explores how temperature variations impact tablet hardness and appearance, providing valuable insights into process control strategies that help maintain formulation robustness, even in challenging manufacturing conditions.

A key aspect of his research involves the use of MEDELPHARM’s heated die accessory, which allows precise control of die temperature during compression. By closely monitoring and adjusting the temperature, researchers and formulation scientists can gain valuable insights into how heat influences the mechanical properties of tablets, and foresee issues such as sticking or picking related to API melting. This approach helps optimize tablet formulation and manufacturing processes at the R&D stage, ensuring consistent quality and performance in pharmaceutical products.
A strong partnership with Roquette Pharma
This year, KORSCH & MEDELPHARM are also partnering with Roquette Pharma Solutions. In collaboration with Roquette’s experts, they will be demonstrating the STYL’One Nano Compaction Simulator using their PEARLITOL® 200 GT mannitol and other innovative direct compression excipients. This demonstration will highlight how excipients can be leveraged to enhance formulation performance, particularly in taste-masking applications. This partnership underscores the shared vision of delivering leading-edge solutions for pharmaceutical formulation by combining expertise in excipients and compaction technology.
Empowering academia: The STYL’One University Contest
In addition to industry innovation, KORSCH & MEDELPHARM are committed to supporting academic research. The STYL’One University Contest offers universities a unique opportunity to win a two-year free loan of a STYL’One Nano Compaction Simulator.
To participate, universities must submit a research proposal outlining their intended use of the STYL’One Nano. A selection committee from MEDELPHARM will evaluate the proposals based on innovation, feasibility, and potential impact. Shortlisted candidates will present their projects before a panel of experts, who will select the top three winners.

- The first-place university will receive a two-year free loan of the STYL’One Nano.
- The second-place winner will gain access to MEDELPHARM Innovation Center services.
- The third-place winner will be awarded entry to an international scientific conference.
By providing access to state-of-the-art technology, KORSCH & MEDELPHARM aim to foster innovation in powder characterization and tablet formulation, equipping students and researchers with real-world experience in solid dosage development.
