Predictive scale-up with the STYL’One Evo
The STYL’One Evo is a fully instrumented single-station compaction simulator capable of emulating virtually any rotary press. Dual independent motors control the upper and lower punches, providing precise pre-compression, main compression, and ejection forces.
The Evo handles single-layer to five-layer tablets, uses pre-configured profiles for all production presses, and offers high-resolution data acquisition (1 N compression force, 1 μm displacement). Optional modules, including roller compaction simulation and a GMP production module, make it ideal for early-stage formulation and small clinical batch production.
Seamless transfer from lab to production
Dr. Moritz Rosch from the KORSCH INNOVATION CENTER demonstrated how a compaction cycle recipe created on the STYL’One Evo can be directly transferred to a production press, such as the KORSCH X 3. This allows formulators to simulate compaction cycles with minimal material, measure tablet characteristics, and replicate the same parameters on a production machine.
A bilayer tablet case study showed that tablets produced on the STYL’One Evo matched the X3 press in hardness, friability, disintegration, and dissolution profiles, confirming the simulator’s reliability for predictive scale-up.
Material characterization and troubleshooting
Beyond scale-up, the STYL’One Evo supports material characterization, formulation optimization, and troubleshooting. Heated dies allow testing under variable temperatures, while instrumented dies measure die-wall pressures and take-off forces, providing critical insights into tablet quality. Only 5–20 grams of material are needed per simulation, making it ideal for high-value APIs or limited material scenarios.
