The objective of this study was to evaluate the tableting characteristics of maize and potato starches when employed either as disintegrants or binders in the development of solid dosage forms. Metronidazole granules were processed through wet granulation, incorporating maize starch, potato starch, or a combination of both as binders or disintegrants at a concentration of 10% w/w. Comprehensive analysis of the granules was conducted for the different formulations, followed by compression into tablets weighing around 500 mg after the inclusion of extragranular excipients. Tablet properties were then evaluated after a 24-hour storage period.
